New Nominee

Today the President nominated Judge Samuel Alito to fill the spot that will be vacant by the retirment of Associate Justice Sandra Day O'Connor. This was a swift replacement for the derailed nomination of White House Counsel Harriet Miers.

In typical blowhard fashion, Senate Minority Leader, Harry Reid, said; “The Senate needs to find out if the man replacing Miers is too radical for the American people,”. The American public knew that George H. W. Bush would nominate conservative people to the Supreme Court, and they STILL voted for him in record numbers. Maybe Senator Reid should stop with the partisanship rhetoric and just do the right thing for a change. He backed Harriet Miers because he knew she didn't have a chance of being confirmed. He liked the idea that the President (and possibly the Republicans) would look badly by having made this nomination.

I am so disgusted by the actions of Democrats like Reid, Schumer, Kennedy, Durbin, Biden, Feinstein, Boxer, Lieberman, and Clinton who put party lines before the good of the American public that they were elected to serve. I even expect that blowhard Nancy Pelosi from the House to pipe in with her two cents. And then the liberal politicos will be mouthing off as well. I'm just waiting to see what that idiot Al Franken has to say, as well as people like Rachel Maddow & the like.

Already that impotent fool, Charles Schumer, has spewed his crap regarding the nomination. He calls Alito "controversial" and says that there will be a fight for confirmation. I'll bet this is a speech that had a "fill-in-the-blank" section for whomever got the nominee. I wish someone would just tell this moron to SHUT UP! Schumer is trying to say this will shift the balance of the court, implying that Sandra Day O'Connor was a swing vote on many issues. In fact, she voted with the conservative Chief Justice 80% of the time. Hardly a swing vote if it was only 1 out of 5 votes up for grabs. Schumer admits to not knowing much about Alito, but he believes that he can make a snap judgment about him. It's just a chance for him to whore himself in front of the cameras ONCE AGAIN.

I am from Pennsylvania, and I pay attention to what goes on in the courts. This Judge is fair, intelligent, and has more of a Libertarian slant (like myself) than an ultra-conservative one. I agree with his view that a middle eastern woman had the right to file for asylum because her home country had laws that oppress the rights of women. He also said that a school can be sued if they don't protect students from excessive bullying. Alito also said that a school can't stop a student from saying profanity, as long as it doesn't disrupt the regular activity of the school day. (what RADICALLY conservative ideas)

The main point of contention will be his decision in the case of Planned Parenthood v. Casey. Alito was the lone dissenter, in which the 3rd Circuit struck down a Pennsylvania law that required women seeking abortions to inform their husbands. Alito argued that the Pennsylvania law's restrictions should have been upheld. "The Pennsylvania Legislature could have rationally believed," Alito wrote, "that some married women are initially inclined to obtain an abortion without their husbands' knowledge because of perceived problems -- such as economic constraints, future plans, or the husbands' previously expressed opposition -- that may be obviated by discussion prior to the abortion." The case went on to the Supreme Court, resulting in a 6-3 decision that reaffirmed Roe v. Wade and struck down the spousal notification provision of the law. Chief Justice William Rehnquist, in his dissent, quoted Alito's underlying dissent and said he agreed with his reasoning.

Again, I agree with his reasoning. I am a man who has a son. The mother made a decision to get pregnant without consulting me. (She "claimed" to have gone on birth control injections so that I would stop using condoms) I don't agree with abortion. (except in the case of the mother's life being in danger, and possibly a pregnancy due to rape/incest) I asked her to marry me, but the marriage never happened. Now I must pay child support for a child I am rarely allowed to see. I love my son, but I hate the system that allowed me to be victimized like I have been.

The left talks about woman's rights on this issue, but what about a man's rights? If I want to have the child, but the mother does not, I can't stop her from killing my child. Conversely, if I don't want the child, and the mother does, I can't force her to abort a child I will have to pay support for - for at least 18 years. Why isn't the father allowed input? It takes two people to cause a pregnancy to happen, so two people should have equal rights on the subject. I don't know if I want the government getting involved with abritration in a dispute, but SOMETHING should be done to protect the rights of men.

Judge Alito deserves a fair vote by the full Senate. The liberal Democrats who hate anything not of their kind, need to stop the rhetoric & just listen to what the man has to say. I am disappointed that it wasn't a woman nominated, but Judge Alito is a great choice. I really thought that it would be Judge Priscilla Owen, but I was wrong about that.

If Judge Alito gets confirmed, it will be a balanced Court - 4 liberals, 1 moderate, and 4 conservatives. You really can't ask for more, unless you want a stacked deck in your favor.

And some want just that. Yeah, I'm talking to you Senators Schumer & Kennedy.

Impotence

I was watching C-span and I saw Senator Charles "Chucky" Schumer in one of his many bouts of diarrhea of the mouth. He was addressing a press conference in regards to the withdrawl of Harriet Miers' nomination for the Supreme Court.

When asked about who might be the next nomination, Chucky declined to name names. He was asked about Priscilla Owen, and he responded that she would be a tough sell because she was already defeated once.

I guess Schumer forgot that Priscilla Owen is on the US Court of Appeals Fifth Circuit. She was confirmed back in May of this year with 56 votes in the Senate. Schumer tries to forget because he was left IMPOTENT because of the "gang of 12". (which somehow Chucky got involved with after the fact & became the "gang of 14") I love how Chucky jumped on the bandwagon after it was obvious that he couldn't do anything about blocking the nomination. For being on the Judiciary Committee he sure doesn't seem to matter. But, like a small dog yapping, he sure tries to get in front of the cameras. A LOT! Chucky will not miss a chance to whore himself for the cameras. He has this need because deep down he knows that nobody gives a crap about anything he has to say. New York is just two idiot seats in the Senate anyway.

Even viagra couldn't solve Chucky's impotence problem as far as power in the Senate goes. He is a pair of clown shoes, the mentally challenged family member you try to hide from comapny when they visit.

Chucky needs to realize that what he has to say isn't going to matter much in the real world. He is the butt of a joke that isn't even funny. The President doesn't need to consult with him to get a qualified nominee confirmed & Chucky knows this. So, he grabs the spotlight every chance he can because it's all he has.

If the President wants Priscilla Owen on the Supreme Court, then she will get confirmed. I expect the new nominee to be announced very soon, to distract attention away from the possible indictments that could come from the CIA leak investigation. (I predict the grand jury will be extended, and that at least "Scooter" Libby gets indicted by Friday night. I also expect Karl Rove & V.P. Cheney to be in the hot seat as the grand jury continues to investigate.) So, I expect to wake up and see Priscilla Owen by the President's side as he announces her as the new nominee as Associate Justice to the Supreme Court. Then We'll see many Senators (especially the 56 who voted "yes" in her earlier confirmation) say this is a very solid choice that should go smoothly to confirmation.

Then we will see poor impotent Chucky cry to the cameras, even as he knows that he can do nothing to stop her confirmation. I expect many Democrats to jump on the bandwagon & that conservatives to agree on her nomination.

Maybe Chucky should just think about what he is going to do when he doesn't get re-elected the next time he's up on the chopping block? That would serve him better than his vain efforts at trying to convince us he actually matters.

Update

Just before 9am today it was reported that Harriet Miers has withdrawn her nomination for Associate Justice to the Supreme Court.

I predicted this would happen, and now I'm waiting for the nomination of Priscilla Owen for the spot that will be vacated by Sandra Day O'Connor.

I have already heard enough of people saying how important O'Connor's spot is, how she was the "swing vote" on so many issues. What a load of crap! Sandra Day O'Connor voted with Chief Justice Renquist 80% of the time. That means, on average, only 1 out of 5 votes did she not take the conservative stance. That's not even close to being a swing vote. This "swing vote" comment is just liberals trying to make the position seem more important than it really is. Sure, every spot is very important, but it will be the next vacancy that will be more important.

If the President gets another chance to nominate after this one, that will be the one to fight over. I think the best choice for that nomination would be Senator John Cornyn. He is well respected in the Senate, he is a great legal mind (like Chief Justice Roberts) and he is conservative enough for the people who were rejecting Harriet Miers on principle. I believe Senator Cornyn would make a great Justice, and I hope he gets the chance to serve the American public in this manner.

I'm waiting for Judge Priscilla Owen to be nominated... possibly by the end of the week, or Monday morning. This would take the heat off the CIA leak investigation that is about to come to a head when the special prosecutor announces who will be indicted and for what.

I'm looking forward to seeing a Supreme Court with both Priscilla Owen & John Cornyn on it.

My Prediction

I say that the White House will soon be pulling the nomination of Harriet Miers for Associate Justice to the Supreme Court. (if she doesn't ask that her nomination gets pulled first)

It's quite obvious that this woman isn't qualified to fill the spot being made vacant by the retirement of Sandra Day O'Connor. America deserves better.

I believe this was a ruse by the White House from the start. I predict that we will see Priscilla Owen nominated for the position very soon. Back on September 12th of this year, Robert Novak reported that the President met with Owen secretly the previous week. I feel this was to prepare her for the scenario that would eventually get her on the Supreme Court.

Think about it. Seriously. It's a way for the White House to get the person they want in the position very easily. Put Miers up for the job & when people are so sick of hearing about her, you pull the bait & switch with Owen getting the nod. Compared to Miers, Priscilla Owen is about 1000% more qualified. And thanks to the "gang of 12" and their compromise earlier this year, the Democrats can't claim she is a judicial activist who is out of the mainstream - at least not without showing how hypocritical they are. Priscilla Owen was confirmed to the Federal Appellate Courts, and to vote against her now if you voted for her then would bring out the "Constitutional Option" by Republicans that would break the "Nuclear Option" that Democrats threatened to use earlier this year.

I didn't know Novak had written about this until I did some research for this entry. I hate having the same point of view as that jerk, but I think he has it right. Here is the link to the article I mentioned above:

http://www.townhall.com/opinion/columns/robertnovak/2005/09/12/155394.html

Frankly, I think Priscilla Owen would be a great choice to replace Sandra Day O'Connor. America would be served well by such a Supreme Court Associate Justice. She is intelligent enough for the job, and she seems to be one to defend the law, not re-write it.

Shut Up!!!

I'm getting really sick of some people spouting off when they should just shut the hell up! I'll give you a list of people, in no particular order of annoyance.

1. Tucker Carlson: Tucker is going on and on about the Valerie Plame leak story, BUT he is taking the wrong side of the argument. He is defending "Scooter" Libby, Karl Rove, and the V.P. even in the face of mounting evidence that they did wrong. He claims that if the indictments are only for obstruction of justice or perjury, then the investigation is a waste of time. If they had to cover up or lie about their actions, then they must have done something wrong in the first place. For Tucker (or anyone) to minimalize this is just wrong. Tucker is being so loud in his campaign that it's annoying me more than what the White House has been doing.

2. Scott McClellan: This guy is just about as annoying as they come. I wish I had a spot in the White House Press room just so I could tear him a new asshole. I would call him a coward for failing to comment on the leak situation, and say that anyone else in the White House doing this (no matter how high up they are) are also cowards for hiding behind the "it's an on-going investigation, and I can't comment" statement. They sure had no problem talking about it when they leaked the identity of Valerie Plame in the first place. They had no problem in the beginning of the investigation talking about things. But NOW that some people are about to get busted, they can't talk about anything. I would love to call Scott McClellan a coward & throw down my credentials in disgust, walking off as the cameras roll footage. He spends so much time avoiding answering a question, it should be a crime. The American people deserve better than a White House that is so cowardly when caught with their hand in the cookie jar, they clam up rather than tell the complete truth.

3. Spike Lee: Recently Spike was on Bill Mahar's show and tried to claim that the levees in New Orleans were purposefully blown up by the government, and this was a direct attack on African-Americans. Spike isn't the only one saying this, and everyone of them (like "Minister" Louis Farrakhan) need to shut up unless they can come forward with actual PROOF of such wrongdoing. Since Spike is so concerned, when will Spike come out and say Farrakhan should be prosecuted for calling for the murder of Malcolm X? Until then, he is just a hypocrite.

4. Jesse Jackson: Jesse Jackson should have stopped talking in public after he had affairs with people who worked for him, and got some of them pregnant. This guy is just a media whore who will say anything for any cause, just as long as he gets on TV. (see blog entries below for more on Mr. Jackson)

5. Al Franken: This guy is just one big idiot. He has the nerve to write a book titled "Rush Limbaugh is a big fat idiot". This guy wasn't very funny when they let him on Saturday Night Live, and he seems to have no clue now that he's a political pundit. He is a radically liberal blowhard on Air America, and he actually thinks Minnesota would elect him to public office. They voted in Jesse Ventura because he was an intelligent alternative to the morons like Franken who litter politics. Franken was recently on Jon Stewart's show & he made fun of the V.P.'s heart condition. This & him making fun of Limbaugh's weight just show how low class he really is. In his latest book he fantasizes that the Democrats take back the Senate (with him as a member) and they impeach the President just weeks before he leaves office. Talk about your pent up anger at being such a losing team for so many years. I'd love to just punch him in the face.

6. Bill Maher: Bill Maher is another example of a comedian who thinks he has the qualifications to comment on the state of politics in America. I'm not a Republican (actually, I'm a registered Libertarian), but these radically liberal blowhards just make me ill. They remind me of politicans like Pelosi, Kennedy, Kerry, Dean, Schumer, Durbin, Feinstein, and Hilary - people who are so out of touch with real Americans & their lives that they don't deserve to be in office.

7. Kanye West: Recently on national TV, Kanye West had the gall to say that the President doesn't care about black people. Considering that only 2% of African-Americans approve of President Bush because they believe the lies told to them by radically liberal people who have an agenda against the President, it's no wonder Mr. West said such a moronic comment like that. All you have to do is watch Kanye West when he got "Punk'd" by Ashton Kutcher to see what an asshole he is. And he only cares about black people as long as they keep putting out the cash to buy his CDs and any other merchandise he has to sell. It's disgusting that people like Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter, Russell Simmons, Sean "Diddy" Combs, & Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson who "financially rape" their own people with high priced (yet low quality) clothing for major profit. They have no shame at doing this, yet they have the nerve to point the finger at white America for all of African-American woes.

8. Jon Stewart: Jon Stewart is yet another comedian who moonlights as a radically liberal blowhard who thinks they are qualified to comment on all things political. Recently he slammed the President for both sides of the Katrina situation. When President Bush was slow to act through the DHS & FEMA Stewart's show made much of the failures. But when the President visited the area 7 times to make sure the situation was being taken care of, Stewart still slammed him. Stewart even slammed the First Lady when she appeared on Extreme Makeover - Home Addition because it was only one home she helped build. (as if Jon was doing anything constructive by just sitting on his ass in New York) It's convenient that Jon spends a whole 4 days a week working at his job, rather than actually DOING SOMETHING to help solve the problem. But why would he want to do that when he can just pretend to be a newscaster & bitch about what others are doing?

9. Penn & Teller: This guy (the idiot that actually talks) is such a moron, he makes Al Franken look smart. I saw them on this program about Nostradameus & he had the gall to say that ANYONE who says that Nostradameus predicted the events of 9-11 should be arrested for failing to help stop the murder of those victims. He needs to get his head out of his ass & stop trying to be so melodramatic. To say that is offensive to me, someone who lost a family member on that day. A wise man once said (paraphrasing) "It's better to keep your mouth shut, and be thought a fool - than to open it up, and remove all doubt". The talking idiot should follow the lead of the mute one and just shut his mouth. He was recently on a Celebrity Poker show for charity & his charity was dealing with the Amazing Randi. Other people had real charities, and this jerk had some bullshit charity. This moron would be better off being in an all mute duo.

10.Kevin Pereira: This tool is a "host" on a show over at G4TV called "Attack of the Show". I call him a tool because he is in the pocket of a company who pust out a game called "Battlefield2". In the music industry this would be called "payola", but I guess it's ok for video games. Kevin never misses a chance to whore himself for BF2. He constantly talks about this game, like it's the ONLY game out there. It was such a regular feature on the show's "LAN Party Thursdays". I called him on this fact over at the message board for the show. Kevin tried to justify his constant advertising of the game, but he came off looking more like an assclown than anything else. Then he got me banned from the message boards for daring to say the truth. That is such a cowardly act, but one I expect from Kevin. The people at G4TV should get rid of Kevin & find a more suitable co-host for the lovely & wonderful Sarah Lane. We don't need someone willing to be the puppet of the video game creators.

There are more peple who really should shut up, but these will do for now. I'll keep you posted as I come up with more people for the list.
